Grateful Soldier

August 25, 2013 — Leave a comment

My constant movement through Karl Barth’s emphasis on gratitude, freedom/command/obedience, and my continuing encounters with the thoughts of feminist (reconstructionist)/political theorist, Jean Bethke Elshtain, are leading me to a deeper understanding about the theological weight in a term such as ‘Grateful Soldier’.

With my impromptu stay-over this week in Ephesians 6:13-20 and its ever-present, sometimes controversial implications for Christians and mission in an online environment, this live performance from Stryper seemed to be an appropriate fit for today…It is no big secret that I am more inclined to listen to metal, grunge, melodic rock, blues and jazz than other genres of music.
